Bay Valve Saves Major Northwest Refinery $ 750,000 in Energy Savings for 2008
Bay Valve in conjunction with a major northwest refinery provided a documented savings of over $ 750,000 through steam system maintenance and repairs. The refinery provided the cost of steam per 1000#'s and through finding steam leaks, repairing them and documenting the leaks as well as using the patented TLV Trapman technology for surveying the steam traps and replacing the traps with efficient TLV traps or repairing the traps that were above a yearly dollar amount these savings were realized. Steam leaks were categorized based on the size and what the yearly steam cost would be for the leak. Steam traps were tested with the TLV Trapman and an analysis was done to work on the worst offenders for maximum savings and cost effectiveness for the repair. This has been an effective partnership for both the refinery and Bay Valve.
